From May 25th to 26th, 2024, the launch and implementation plan seminar of the 14th Five Year Plan National Key R&D Project called "New Mechanism and New Functional Plant Growth Regulators Creation and Industrialization", led by Professor Duan Liusheng who is the project leader and Chengdu Newsun Crop Science Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Newsun"), was held in Pujiang, Chengdu. Song Bao'an, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Qiao Shiyan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Xu Minggang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhou Puguo, President of the China Pesticide Development and Application Association, Li Zhong, Professor of East China University of Technology, Cao Lidong, Researcher of the Plant Protection Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Yin Heng, Researcher of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yi Weijia, Director of Zhongwei Certified Public Accountants, Tang Song, Director of the Economic Crop Technology Division of the National Agricultural Technology Promotion Service Center, Wu Chunxian, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Station of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, He Qiming, the chairman of Newsun which is the leading company of the project, Ren Dan, the dean of Newsun Biotechnology Research Institute, as well as more than 60 project leaders and backbone members attended the meeting. Professor Duan Liusheng, the project leader, presided over the meeting.

The chairman of Newsun, He Qiming, stated in his speech that Newsun is honored to be the leading company of this project. It will strictly follow the management requirements of the national key research and development plan project, conscientiously fulfill its legal entity responsibilities, and provide full support in project implementation planning, project management, talent cultivation, experimental conditions, achievement transformation conditions improvement, and fund utilization. And Newsun will actively promote the creation and industrialization of new mechanisms and new functional plant growth regulators, providing technical and product guarantees to ensure the green and high-quality development of agriculture in China, and helping to achieve the goal of green and sustainable agricultural development.

During the project reporting, Professor Duan Liusheng, the project leader, introduced the overall situation and implementation plan of the project, emphasizing the importance of creating new mechanisms and new functional plant growth regulators, establishing application technologies, obtaining pesticide registration and promoting application, in improving grain yield and strengthening food safety. The project leaders, Professor Chen Shiguo of Nanjing Agricultural University, Professor Wu Jian of Guizhou University, Researcher Zhao Xiaoming of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chen Tingzhuo Senior Engineer from Newsun and Professor Tan Weiming of China Agricultural University, reported in detail on the overall implementation plan of the project and their respective research tasks. The project consulting experts and user representatives had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the project execution and implementation plan, and provided valuable opinions and suggestions. The expert group and user representatives unanimously believe that the project is of great significance, with a clear research direction, a reasonable technical route, and a feasible implementation plan. It has important scientific significance and application value. Emphasize that the project team should continuously break through and innovate, actively explore new mechanisms and functions, and develop safer and more efficient plant growth regulators; Emphasize that each topic should strictly focus on established research tasks, strengthen communication and cooperation between topics and specialized projects; Application demonstrations should further focus on crops, regions, and major production issues, highlighting key areas; The attending experts provided valuable suggestions for further refining the project implementation plan.

At the end of the meeting, Professor Duan Liusheng, the project leader, proposed the overall requirements of "Three Focuses" and "ONE REINFORCEMENT", and continued to improve and refine the implementation plan. Focus on major products and key technologies; Focusing on new mechanisms and functions, achieving breakthroughs from "Zero" to "One"; Focusing on production demand, solving production problems, emphasizing the need for products and technology to solve major problems and challenges in production, and providing key tools for the implementation of national strategies; Strengthen collaborative implementation and complete project tasks with high quality, including internal project collaboration, external specialized collaboration, and collaboration with management departments.

During the meeting, Director Yi Weijia of Zhongwei Certified Public Accountants provided a detailed interpretation of the relevant requirements and regulations for project financial management, ensuring the compliance and effectiveness of fund utilization; Professor Tan Weiming from China Agricultural University provided a systematic introduction to the process, standards, and requirements of project management, providing strong support for the smooth implementation of the project.

The convening of this meeting not only laid a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the project, but also injected new impetus into China's agricultural science and technology innovation and green development. As the leading company of the project, Newsun will continue to focus on crop oriented biotechnology innovation research and application in the future, and work together with experts and industry colleagues to promote the high-quality development of green agriculture and rural revitalization.
